What is Car Detailing?

Car detailing is the process of deep cleaning and rejuvenating a cars appearance, this would involve machine polishing using various compounds and pads to remove the defects in the paintwork like holograms, swirl marks, scratches and paint marring. This can be a time-consuming job that can take from 1 to 5 days depending on the amount of paint correction that’s needed to bring your car back to a Mirror Finish.

What is the difference between a car wash and car detailing?

A typical car wash consist of washing away the surface level dirt and grime for the exterior of the vehicle. Normally you can complete a car wash in approximately 20 mins or so.
A Car detailing is an intense process which involves top to bottom cleaning, restoring, polishing, stain removal, paint correction, swirl removal, and apply a protective top coat to protect both the interior and exterior of the vehicle.

Which cars can benefit from Detailing?

How often do i need to get my car detailed?

As a rule of thumb you dont need to get your car detailed every time you have it washed. It is recomended every 4-6 months. this ensures that the paint stays protected against UV rays, road grit and grime, salt and also removes swirl marks from any inbetween washes.

What is paint correction?

Paint correction is the process of removing surface imperfections from the vehicles clear coat. this can include swirl marks, fine scratches, oxidisation and holograms. It helps if your paintwork looks dull or shows scratches in the light.
It will restore the paint to its glossy shining coat.

Can detailing remove deep scratches?

It all depends on whether the scratch has penetrated through to the metal or if it is in the clear top coat.
If it is in the top coat, then it can easily be buffed out. If not, it may require bodyshop work such as a respray.

What is a ceramic coating?

A ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that can be applied the exterior of the vehicle.
It provides a water resistant barrier (hydrophobic) of protection which can last anywhere from 2-5 years – depending on how well maintained it is.
Alternatives such as wax will sometimes only last for a few weeks.

Is engine bay detailing safe?

We only carry out work on vehciles that we are full qualified to complete. Yes engine detailing is safe when carried out by professionals such ourselves.

We take great care of you engine, by covering sensitive components, and applying special degreasers. We use low pressurised water or steam power to remove debris

How long does a typical detail take?

Each car detailing is different depending on your car make and model. It can take anywhere from a few hours to a full day.

What is paint swirling?

Paint swirling or paint swirls are usually circular marks and light scratches in the car’s paintwork, they can be caused by many things but mainly incorrect washing and drying methods.

What detailing products do you use?

We have a tried and tested range of products from various manufacturers including Zirconite, Kamikaze and our unique glass coat finish for the ultimate protection. I find that these products in particular not only deliver stunning show winning results but more importantly they keep on protecting your car for much longer than some of the other products out there. What is Snow Foam

Snow foam is a dense foam that used to cover the car, it clings to vertical surfaces which we typically leave on for 6 to 8 minutes before rinsing off. Snow foam agitates any surface dirt and then holds onto it until rinsing.

What does a clay bar do?

A clay bar is a soft synthetic clay used to remove surface contaminants such as brake dust, small metallic particles and industrial fallout. You can feel this on a freshly washed car just by running your fingers over the paintwork. If your fingers drag then the car is probably ready for a full detail including a clay bar treatment which is just one stage of a correct car detail.

How much does car detailing cost?

This varies from car to car and is dependent on age, condition and the level to which you want to take your car. some detailing processes can take from 1 – 2 days or even 5 days depending on the condition of the car’s paintwork! Do you need to collect my car?

That’s optional. You can, if you wish, drop your car of at our detailing studio. I can also collect your car as I am fully insured to drive your vehicle and return it when completed.
